Team Feed The Baby Mommas has officially kicked off! We are a team of, say, 9? alternating nightly to supply dinner (with leftovers) to our good friends and now new moms: Kristine and Smadar. Early last Wednesday morning, Smadar gave birth to twins Dune and Leo. Between recovering from a C-section, running back and forth from the hospital and the house (Leo’s needing a couple of days to get a little bit stronger) and the frenzy of suddenly becoming parents, we thought we’d take some of the edge off by taking the burden of cooking off their hands.
Tuesdays are my nights, so today I made a chicken stir fry and paired it with brown rice. A really basic stir fry sauce, I think, involves
- soy sauce
- cornstarch
- sugar
To give it more flare, you can throw in:
- chopped garlic
- minced ginger
- chillies
- oyster sauce
- Chinese rice wine
I’m opt for sesame or peanut oil and a wok over any other oil or pan.
I’m very much looking forward to next week, even if I have no idea what to make next. But thinking of up healthy meals, trying new recipes and visiting this newly expanded family sounds like nothing but fun.
